Andrey Santos likely seals work permit appeal with Brazil debut

Chelsea’s January signing Andrey Santos is one step closer to being able to be registered for the club after getting his first senior Brazil cap overnight last night.

The impressive midfielder saw his work permit application turned down by the Home Office in January, missing out by a single one of the necessary points, despite his obvious exceptional ability and potential.

It was likely that a second application this summer would have succeeded anyway, but Santos has now all but guaranteed that by getting a senior cap with Brazil. He played from the start in a midfield 3 against Morocco, and was taken off in the second half.

While a single cap doesn’t earn him any work permit points in itself, it does pretty much guarantee any appeal on the basis of “exceptional talent” would be successful.

What better qualification for that category could there be than playing for Brazil at football?

  1. Pero uno de los puntos que denegó su vinculación era la sobrepoblacion de mediocampistas en chelsea, quizás en verano después de algunas salidas pueda obtener el permiso.
