Paul Merson was asked about Chelsea’s historic transfer window, and despite the excitement all around, he noted the gap in the policy.
“You’re not going to win anything without a goalscorer,” he claimed, ignoring the successes of plenty of teams who have won things recently without strikers. It’s true however that, assuming David Datro Fofana isn’t the second coming of Ronaldo Nazario, a number 9 should be top of our list in the summer.
He also had doubts about how involved Graham Potter had even been in the deals, as well as about the “too long” contracts being offered out.
