Chelsea broke the British transfer record this week when they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.
The Blues had a real battle on their hands to land the world class midfielder, finally pulling it off in the final hours of deadline day this week. It was a real coup, and the club wanted to make sure they got him this month, and ahead of any more forming competition this summer.

Everyone has their version of events on how the deal went down, and we have been reading so many different contrasting reports about it. One of the claims was that Chelsea were trying to offer players as part of the deal. This of course did not transpire to happen, but apparently it was discussed.
Record in Portugal claims that Benfica actually asked for Mateo Kovacic in return! This was obviously flat out rejected by Chelsea, and no player ended up going the other way.
