“Deal in principle” agreed for loan of Chelsea forward to MLS

90min’s Graeme Bailey is pushing the story that LAFC have agreed “a deal in principle” to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on loan from Chelsea.

The Gabon striker has started just 4 games in the Premier League this season, and has dramatically fallen out of favour since the World Cup break. Graham Potter doesn’t fancy him, but his appearance for Barcelona in August precludes him from a European move – making LAFC a great choice.

They’re not the only ones – the piece claims that “a number” of MLS clubs are interested in Auba, but clearly LA have the edge. With Gareth Bale now retired they’ve got some wage budget spare, and life in the City of Angels clearly tempts the striker more than a move to Chattanooga or Cleveland.

Chelsea will get a chunk of wages off their books and a potential bad influence out of the dressing room, LAFC get a new star striker, and Aubemeyang gets to play.

Let’s hope this gets done.

  1. Chattanooga or Cleveland? Huh? Where did you pull those names from? No MLS clubs within 100 miles of either, lol!

Great for Chelsea if they can get him out of the dressing room, as he showed during his time at Arsenal that he can be a malcontent, but I’m not sure why any MLS club would want him (for precisely the same reason).
