Chelsea “in danger of breaking FFP rules”

Chelsea are “in danger of breaking FFP rules” if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions league next season, reports The Times.

They claim that Chelsea may be forced to sell home grown academy stars this summer in order to inject pure profit into the club, players such as Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Callum Hudson Odoi could generate an estimate of 100 million pounds between them all.

Chelsea spent a extraordinary 300 million pounds this January and the sole departure of Jorginho amongst eight incomings means that the wage bill would have rocketed, albeit Chelsea’s owners are enforcing new incentivised contracts which include lower base wages upon signing.

Chelsea failing to qualify for the Champions league would mean the club would lose out on a total of 90 million pounds in TV money. I personally have confidence that Chelsea can qualify for the coveted competition this year despite currently chasing a ten point gap.

  1. It was always the plan to have a big clear out this summer, so where’s the problem?

There is no room now for Loftus-Cheek, CHO, Pulisic and Ziyech, and they will bring in £100 million.
