Chelsea had “9 man midfielder list” – Journalist reveals Chelsea plan’s for midfield

Matt Law from The Telegraph has revealed that Chelsea had a “9 man midfielder list” to pursue for either January or the summer transfer windows.

Chelsea felt that they got ahead of the competition by securing the services of Enzo Fernandez who was attracting interest and set for a summer bidding war had Chelsea not swooped in early from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Jude Bellingham was the man joint top of Chelsea’s list alongside Enzo but there is recognition now that Chelsea are not amongst the favourites for his signature this summer.

Plus, do Chelsea really need Bellingham’s profile? Enzo Fernandez and Bellingham both thrive when allowed the license to go forward so ideally Chelsea should be looking at a defensive midfielder in this summer’s window. Declan Rice was mentioned in the article as a midfielder on the list but there have been rumours that he might join Arsenal.

Who those other midfielders on the list remain to be seen, we know that Moises Caicedo is another, so that makes four but the other five are unknown as of right now.

  1. Declan Rice is not and never will be Chelsea quality. He isn’t good enough on the ball, can’t control play and isn’t fast enough. As long as we don’t waste our money on him I’m not bothered about who comes. Assume Lavia and Caceido are the two we will go for

    1. I agree on Rice. Lots of talk due to his boyhood ties to Chelsea (and the fact that he’s English and best mates with Mason Mount), but I haven’t been overly impressed with him and we ought not be settling for anyone who isn’t absolutely world class (which Enzo certainly appears to be). Caicedo certainly looks the part and, in addition to Lavia, there is still Alvarez at Ajax (who we were previously linked with).

  2. Personalmente me inclinaría por Caicedo, tiene excelentes estadísticas pero quizás más dinámica y esa sangre latina que hace falta y para mi un plus que agregar.
