Two top sources confirm that Enzo deal is stuck – for now

This morning’s news that Jorginho is set to join Arsenal has convinced a lot of people that Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea must be a done deal – but that is very much not the case.

In fact the latest update from the two journalists we know to be in the know on this deal is very negative from a Chelsea point of view.

David Ornstein say the Blues “won’t go beyond €120m”, and have offered that already. Benfica just aren’t happy with the structure of how that would be paid.

From the Argentine angle, Cesar Luis Merlo says the two clubs are “not close” to an agreement, with our 6 payments of €20m clearly not what the Eagles are looking for. A deal looks “difficult” despite our willingness to pay big money.

As it stands, Fernandez stays a Benfica player, and the Portuguese club watches €120m in cold hard cash vanish over the horizon. Who blinks first?
