Ruben Loftus-Cheek returns to training

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has trained with Chelsea today, his first action since hurting his thigh against Newcastle in November, Adam Newson has reported at Football.London.

Given that decent spell out it will likely be a couple of weeks before he’s match fit, but he’s at least closing in on a return now. He should return to being an important rotation option for the club once he’s fit again.

Perhaps it’s wishful thinking – and of course the players who aren’t playing always feel like just the players you needed – but we had been thinking as we laboured against Nottingham Forest on Sunday that a bit of RLC action would really have spiced things up – either as a right wing back or as a central midfielder.

His physical size would have been handy, and his ability to dribble and disrupt defences by moving with the ball was a quality hugely lacking in the rest of the players out there.
