Rival club tell Chelsea target to “not rush”

Chelsea are working on a back up right back in the remaining days of the transfer window to act as competition and cover for Reece James.

Fabrice Hawkins, a journalist who works for RMC Sport has come out with information stating that Manchester United have personally asked Malo Gusto from Lyon to “not rush” with his decision making.

Despite Manchester United’s behind the scenes plea, it seems Chelsea and Gusto already have a contractual agreement as Fabrice states that “Malo Gusto has a contractual agreement with Chelsea” and that “a long-term contract of more than 5 years awaits him”

Chelsea are in direct contact with Lyon to try and close a deal but it is felt that Lyon do want to keep the player who is amongst the best fullback talents in the world, nevertheless, it would not be surprising to see Chelsea offer a price tag that Lyon simply can’t refuse and with the player already agreeing a contract with Chelsea, this usually only ends one way, with the player getting his wish.

Talking a bit more about Malo Gusto, MozoFootball has given a very interesting stat, he states “Malo Gusto (3.4) has generated a higher expected assists (xA) than any other Chelsea player in respective leagues”.

Chelsea have struggled for goals and creativity this season, only managing to net 17 premier league goals in 20 matches and it feels like when Reece James is injured, Chelsea lose a lot of that creative threat from wide areas with crosses and even goals, which is also relevant to the left back situation as 19 year old Lewis Hall has missed a number of chances you’d fancy Ben Chilwell to have netted, if he was fit.

Adding Malo Gusto to their ranks, Chelsea will no longer have to rely on veteran Cesar Azpilicueta or Centre Back Trevoh Chalobah to play right back, they will have a top young talent who is not only good defensively but is also able to contribute when attacking.
