So far most people – us included – have been expecting the Malo Gusto move to Chelsea to be just a formality at this stage.
We want him, he wants to come to us. It’s just a question of agreeing a fee with Lyon.
But Ben Jacobs – who is well connected with the new Chelsea ownership – thinks that we should keep an eye on Lyon’s new owner, John Textor.
Chelsea still trying for Malo Gusto and have full player buy in. Lyon's position has always been to keep him until end of the season. They want around €40m to change that. New American owner John Textor is a factor in all this. He isn't keen on young talent leaving mid-season. pic.twitter.com/B9nD9ERV9j

The American took over last summer and has made it his stated aim to try and challenge PSG at the top of the French league. He’s not going to manage that by selling the club’s young talents, especially those already in the first team.
Chelsea will have to pay €40m for the 19 year old, which seems like it will be enough even for Textor’s demands. He is “firmly relaying his position,” and that position is clearly to hold on to young talent at anything below serious prices.
