“Prefer a London move” – The latest on Declan Rice to Chelsea

The Chelsea and Declan Rice story is one that has been going on for years, and it’s not going to die out yet.

In fact, the more we hear about it, the more that it looks like it could conclude with Rice rejoining the club he started playing with at academy level.

Rice has kicked on a lot since those days, and he has become the West Ham captain, and a mainstay in the England midfield.

His future is set to take a turn in the summer, with his next pathway to be decided. A move away from West Ham is now hugely likely, but the question is, where will he end up?

Chelsea are certainly in the mix. And insider Ben Jacobs has a section on the situation in his exclusive column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea this week.

The article is a huge deep dive into Chelsea transfers, so you should check out the entire thing. But Jacobs had this to say on Rice:

“Declan Rice remains a priority for Chelsea. Rice, as he said at the World Cup, is keen to move to a Champions League club.

“UCL football is by no means guaranteed for Chelsea next season but Rice is looking at the bigger picture. Arsenal could easily come into the conversation as well and Manchester United or Liverpool can’t be discounted. I am told, though, Rice would ideally prefer a London move, but it won’t be a dealbreaker-factor in his final decision. West Ham are resigned to losing Rice in the summer and for a price closer to £70m than the £100m+ quoted over the summer.”
