Midfield switch-up could give Conor Gallagher new lease of life in Potter’s midfield

It’s deadline day and Chelsea look set to be busy, despite already have bought so many players.

They’re still waiting on Enzo Fernandez to come in, and they’re in the process of selling Jorginho.

That puts Conor Gallagher in a funny position. He’s been written about as one of our top saleable assets this January, and as recently as this morning the Athletic had a piece on why there is so much Premier League interest in him.

Unable to make a position in Graham Potter’s team his own despite being useful as a sub, the juicy fee we could get for him has seemed tempting all round.

However, the departure of Jorginho also gives us the impression that Gallagher will be kept around at least until the summer, even if Fernandez is signed. That gives the new boys time to settle in, and Gallagher a little longer to make his case as a Chelsea player of the future.
