“I think Chelsea will go on a little bit of a run” – Sky pundit backs Potter to turn round Blues disaster start

Everyone knows how poor of a season it has been for Chelsea but as Graham Potter has said numerous times, there is “context” to the bad start.

The context is injuries and lack of time on the training pitch to prepare for matches, Chelsea have had a huge injury list to deal with including Reece James who if you just go off stats, is Graham Potter’s most important player.

When James has played under Potter, Chelsea are undefeated, Thomas Tuchel found himself enduring a poor run of results when Chelsea’s first choice right back was out too.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicts that Graham Potter will start to turn things round, he told Sky Sports via Metro : “I think Chelsea will go on a little bit of a run”.

“I don’t think it’s fair to bring in someone to a club like that and not give him time to have a pre-season. If he’s where he is now this time next season, then there’s alarm bells.”

Paul is right, Graham Potter got thrown into the deep end. For me personally, you don’t hire a project manager who needs time to implement his ideas when the season has already started and expect him to work miracles with a load of new signings that weren’t even intended for you.

Chelsea can improve and they will, I am confident on that, they should have won the game against Liverpool at Anfield and only lost by one goal against Manchester City in the league, there are signs of optimism with the four at the back formation becoming a regular, plus the likes of new signings Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk showing promise.
