Club president claims Chelsea target will stay at Lyon until summer at least

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has stated on Twitter that Malo Gusto will stay until at least the summer of 2023.

Chelsea have been trying to complete a deal for Malo over the last few days, some Lyon supporters think that an agreement has been reached but as Lyon originally wanted, Chelsea agreed to loan him back until the summer.

Another possible outcome is that Aulas is lying, yes, sounds crazy right? It isn’t however, because Aulas has notoriously denied Lyon sales only for them to happen a few days later, for example the sale of Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal and Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle.

If Chelsea don’t have any agreement for the transfer, even if it was to loan the player back until the summer then their pursuit for a right back has taken a major hit and they may have to quickly reassess options, one of which could be trying to hijack Spurs’s move for Pedro Porro.
