Chelsea prepare to double their offer after €20m right back bid rejected

The links between Chelsea and Malo Gusto are growing stronger, and this afternoon Santi Aouna of FootMercato reported on the discussions which were held yesterday.

Gusto has been “convinced by the sporting project” that Chelsea have shown him, and has also been made guarantees of at least some first team action.

The first bid – which was refused – was reportedly €20m, and the new offer is going to be “between 30 and €40m.”

Well, if it’s that easy to double your money, why would anyone ever accept a first bid? This is the problem with any team which spends so lavishly, other clubs are aware you’ve got money to burn.

As was established by sources yesterday, Lyon want to keep him for 6 more months while Chelsea want him to arrive now, so that he can provide cover for Reece James immediately.

At the rate this is going, we expect it done by the weekend.
