Chelsea have offer rejected for top right back target

Chelsea move quicker than ever on the transfer front these days.

We had only just heard that they were in the market for Lyon right back Malo Gusto – now we’re hearing from the chief editor of FootMercato that the Blues have made an offer for him.

It’s been turned down “for the moment”, presumably as his club see how much they can get out of us.

Gusto is not a well known name in most circles – he’s only in his second season as a regular – but people are very positive about his potential as a backup to Reece James. Only 19, he is the right age to contribute while also being happy to spend time on the bench when James is fit, and he seems to have all the physical raw materials to be an understudy to the academy product.

The stumbling block will be how much Lyon want for him – something we will likely discover in the days to come.
