Gregg Evans, Aston Villa’s reporter from The Athletic has revealed that Chelsea forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been name checked as a potential option for Aston Villa this summer.
The report details how Unai Emery, Aston Villa’s current boss, is known to be fond of Aubameyang having worked together at Arsenal and that the move may be explored in summer 2023.
Chelsea can’t current let Aubameyang leave unless it was to Barcelona as rules state you cannot play for more than two teams in a singular season. This means that Chelsea are likely to wait until the summer to see if any bids arrive for the 33 year old who was signed for 12 million pounds last summer.
It would be fair to say that Aubameyang has struggled since joining Chelsea last summer having only netted three times so far, two of which came against AC Milan in the Champions League, home and away.
