Graham Potter has spoken after Chelsea’s friendly game against Aston Villa, and while his team lost 1-0, the focus was all on one thing – the horrible injury suffered by Armando Broja.
The striker’s leg was caught up while tangling with Villa defender Ezri Konsa, and there were some truly harrowing screams from the Albania forward as he lay prostrate clutching his knee.
After that, we only expected bad news really, and while Potter couldn’t say much for sure, he certainly wasn’t there to raise our hopes.
Graham Potter on Armando Broja injury: "It was an unfortunate action, I think he got caught up with their player and the ground. It doesn’t look positive at the moment, but it is too early to say. Fingers crossed, but it is an awkward one." #CFC

Potter said that “it doesn’t look positive” – well it certainly didn’t sound positive as the young striker lay in agony and was then carted off.
We would expect him to miss the rest of this season at a bare minimum – the worry now is whether it will affect the rest of his career. Chelsea’s options up top now look desperately thin for the rest of this season.
