Cesare Casadei signed for Chelsea in the summer for big money considering his age, but went straight into the development squad rather than going on loan or joining Graham Potter’s first team.
He’s looked brilliant in the PL2, and followed a long range screamer with a hattrick in a friendly last week.
Speaking on the London is Blue podcast, noted academy-watcher “Chelsea Youth” admitted that the Italian was “too good for this level,” and wouldn’t look out of place in the first team.
🗣️ @chelseayouth: “Casadei is now finding his confidence and rhythm and looks settled in this team and in England. He looks far too good for this level (U-21). The way he’s trending, I wouldn’t put it past him to make his Chelsea debut and do well.” 📈

We totally understood the decision to give him a year in the youth team. There are a number of reasons for it. Firstly, he’s moved to a new country and needs time to settle in and adjust to his new circumstances, before you even take the football into account.
In Italy they like to develop players very slowly, and he had yet to make a senior appearance at all for Inter – so bearing that in mind a year with our youth side was very sensible all round compared to sending him out on loan to make his first senior starts.
We all know he’s ready – and we can’t wait to see it.
