(Video): “We take what we can” – Graham Potter plays down 24 hour advantage

In his press conference today, Graham Potter played down the fact that in this midweek his team played 24 hours before Arsenal, their opposition on Sunday.

He called it “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,” but admitted he and his team would “take what [they] can.”

He seems to have slightly misunderstood the metaphor. He uses it to mean a moot point – i.e. that the 24 hours won’t make much of a difference either way, while in reality it means something that is a futile gesture. It’s a subtle difference, but given plenty of fans are annoyed by the way he picked such a strong team on Wednesday, it’s an important one.
