(Video): “He doesn’t know what his best team is” – Chelsea manager criticised for experiments

This weekend’s game is huge for Chelsea and for Arsenal, but Blues manager Graham Potter knows it’s particularly big for him.

He’s not had too many big Premier League tests yet, and he’s coming in for increasing criticism for not knowing his best team. Paul Merson was critical of exactly this on Sky Sports today, noting that he and the other 4 pundits could all guess the lineup for tomorrow and probably none of them would be right. It’s a fair critique of a manager still finding his feet.

You can see Merson make his point in the clip embedded here:

  1. Everyone keeps banging on about Potter has only lost one game in eleven, but be honest some we did not win because we conceded late on and so dropped vital points, most of those we did win, we were holding on like grim death in the last quarter, with help from their men missing golden chances. All this is not something to be proud of!!!!! Arsenal tomorrow, City, probably even Newcastle will thump us, and don’t even think of Champs League with Real, Bayern Inter, P.S.G.

  2. I hope it’s a mere rumour am hearing about exchanging broja and pulisic for leao. Dear Mr graham potter enough of experimenting. All I want to see tomorrow is pulisic, broja and sterling at the front, mount havertz and kovacic, Silva, Zakaria, koulibaly, challobah and Mendy all starting. Thank you

  3. I hate the fact he kept favouring Cucerella over Chilwell. He needs to play he needs to play Sterling, Aubamyang and Havertz in a front 3 with Mount having a free roll.

  4. Potter is not the right coach for a big team like Chelsea. He has already been appointed with a whopping seven years contract. Let give him a chance.
