“The best” Thiago Silva set for World Cup bow with Chelsea future uncertain

Chelsea fans would have been happy to just get one good year out of Thiago Silva when they got him on a free transfer.

Instead they’re into their third year with the Brazilian at the back, and according to him they’re getting the best version yet.

The central defender will tonight make his bow at the Qatar World Cup, and in quotes picked up by Football.London he insisted that this was the best he has been.

“I am now enjoying the best version of Thiago Silva. I think now, at my age, I am living the best moments of my career. I also have other personal fulfilments, I have a beautiful family that is a great support to me.”

We’ve seen him keep up his performances on the pitch too, and for all that this team has struggled this season, we dread to think how bad things could have been without him.

Chelsea still don’t have a contract for beyond this season agreed, although Silva seems calm about the whole situation. Earlier this season he said that “there will be a time when we need to talk,” but everything has been resolved very smoothly in previous years, and we don’t expect any problems this time around either.

So Silva can focus on killing it with Brazil. Forca!
