Lewis Hall set for start against Man City – and potentially beyond

Rumours are spreading around social media right now that Lewis Hall is going to get a start for Chelsea tonight.

We normally wouldn’t pay too much attention to rumours like this, but since Graham Potter came to the club earlier this season we’ve seen exceptional amounts of team news being leaked, and we’re now pretty conditioned to take it seriously.

This would be a bold move, but not an unexpected one. Potter took a look of criticism from fans for not using last week’s Champions League dead rubber as a chance to rotate more and use some of the brilliant academy talent at his disposal, missing the chance to do so again in this Carabao Cup tie would have caused riots.

Hall is the natural choice to come in of anyone. Ben Chilwell is out injured for the foreseeable future, meaning Marc Cucurella is in line for a real marathon season. Anyone who can come in and relieve him at left back for a game – like Hall – will be in line for minutes.
