Graham Potter gets his first signing done – and should already be scouting his next move

All eyes have been on the World Cup in the last week, and understandably so.

But there’s still action behind the scenes at Cobham, as today’s news about Trevoh Chalobah’s new contract reminded us.

The defender has been handed a major extension, a deal which has presumably been easier to do without the distraction of club games.

Chalobah has proved to be a regular under Graham Potter, and this is probably the first deal that the coach has had some influence in. He’s been able to give this one the green light after using the 23 year old in almost every game since arriving at Chelsea and getting to know him very well in a short time.

In a similar vein, we can imagine Potter is right now sorting through the players he wants to re-sign, plus some targets he wants to bring in.

While we’re watching Qatar, let’s hope Chelsea keep making strides.
