Former club president calls Chelsea player ‘a big rip-off’

Chelsea made a few deals last summer that saw various players leave the club in different ways.

There were many situations that the new owners needed to sort out, and some of them needed sorting sooner rather than later.

Basically, the first thing that the new owners needed to do was to move Romelu Lukaku on and out of the club, due to his fallout with Thomas Tuchel and the hostile situation.

There weren’t many clubs who would have paid a lot of money to sign him permanently, so Chelsea sorted a deal for him to return to Inter Milan on loan, a move in which they hope will lead to a permanent deal eventually.

But his move hasn’t exactly been going to plan, with injuries holding the striker back upon his return. And that has forced former Inter president Massimo Moratti to call Lukaku ‘a big rip-off.’

Moratti was unimpressed with the return of Lukaku at the time, but he backed coach Simone Inzaghi.

As per Football Italia, Moratti says: “We almost forgot the fact that Inter are doing without the player they had based everything on, Lukaku. A big rip-off, he has practically never played.”
