Former Chelsea youth player hails the kid now “playing with Thiago”

Everyone at loves Chelsea loves Trevoh Chalobah.

Humble, hard working, talented and brave, the academy lad has battled his way into the plans of two managers in a row, and this week signing a big new contract that should keep him at the club for a long time.

It’s not just the coaches and the fans who love him. His former teammates also seem delighted for him to have cracked the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in quotes picked up by All Nigeria Soccer, Chalobah’s old youth team colleague Ola Aina expressed his delight at Trevoh’s progress:

“I’m super happy for him. I messaged him and I think it was after his eighth start, I was like: ‘you’re doing really well bro. Playing alongside Thiago and this. And you’re not just there, you are putting in good performances,” Aina said.

“Proper buzzing for him. And he was just like: ‘yeah just got to keep it going, got to keep my head down’. He always says that to me. It’s good to hear because he deserves it, he works hard.

“The things that he does off the pitch as well people don’t really see, so I’m always happy for him.”

We’re as happy for anyone. Injuries to other defends gave Chalobah his chance this season and he’s played as much as anyone under Graham Potter.

While a lot of the rest of the group are off playing at the World Cup, Trev can rest and get back to working hard on improving and showing Potter more of what he can do.

By the time the next World Cup comes along, would you really back against him making the England squad?
