Former Blue wades in on N’Golo Kante contract debate

Chelsea still have two big contract situations looming over them with no signs of any conclusions happening yet.

Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante have contracts running out at the end of this season, and it’s been a while since we have heard anything on it, suggesting it is all quiet and no progression has been made for either.

Personally, I believe it might be time to allow both midfielders to leave the club and replace them in our new big rebuild we are looking to do as part of the new project. I believe the time is right.

But former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink disagrees. As reported by Football London today, Jimmy thinks Chelsea should extend Kante’s contract and they will find it impossible to replace him.

“Kante deserves it [a new contract] and to replace him would take one hell of a signing,” Hasselbaink said.

“I think Kante has been overworked; he played a lot of matches in a really short time. It was going to catch up with him.

“Hopefully not going to the World Cup with France will do him well. That is not what he would want to hear but I think not going will be great for Chelsea because he can get healthy and go again. So I would definitely renew Kante’s contract.”

He makes a great point, but for me, I just think Kante has become far too injury prone and the time is right to move on and replace. There ARE some good options out there for me too.
