Fabrizio Romano gives update on Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea future amidst PL interest

Rumours have been circulating over the weekend regarding interest building up to sign Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.

One recent story that’s emerged is that both Manchester United and Arsenal could be options for Pulisic in January.

Sources: The truth about Mason Mount’s contract situation!

Would Chelsea be open to selling Pulisic in mid-season? Well, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given his view and info in his exclusive CaughtOffside column on Substack.

“Pulisic was already on Man United’s list in the summer, but Chelsea didn’t want to loan him out at that time,” Romano explained.

“His future depends on the proposals, at the moment the situation is still quiet; Arsenal’s priority remains Mudryk for January but it’s still early.”

So it seems like United could be a genuine destination for Pulisic if he does decide to push for a move, and Chelsea decide to let him go. But Arsenal seemingly have other priorities.

Chelsea will need to make a decision soon on Pulisic with the winter window now fast approaching, and he also has a contract until 2024 that is ticking down now too. The player has been inconsistent at Chelsea over the years, but he is currently having a good World Cup.

  1. Calling Pulisic “inconsistent” is such a lazy analysis, lol! All the (mostly British) talking heads repeat it like gospel, but it’s based on rubbish.

Despite less backing from Potter than he enjoyed under Tuchel (which was “inconsistent” at best), Pulisic has continued to be one of the clubs most productive players. Just go look at FBRef and see who, at this very moment, leads the team in goals + assists per 90 minutes. Hint: It’s not Raheem Sterling. It’s certainly not Kai Havertz. And it’s not even everybody’s darling, Mason Mount. Surprise, surprise, it’s Christian Pulisic.

He sees less consistent playing time than anybody in the squad save Ziyech, gets played out of position half the time when he does make it on the pitch, and yet he produces MORE CONSISTENTLY than anyone else in the team! That he does it despite the total lack of confidence Potter has shown him and in the face of growing supporter calls to sell him makes his accomplishment all the more noteworthy. But the fact that Sterling, Mount, and Havertz (and, previously, Werner as well) continue to start ahead of him is an indictment of how inconsistently the “experts” apply their vaunted powers of analysis. As Wayne Rooney recently commented (after some British fans lost their minds over a draw with Team USA) , there is a fairly pervasive anti-American prejudice within British football and the fact that Pulisic continues to be labeled “inconsistent” is just another of its manifestations.
