With Wesley Fofana’s injury (back very soon but condition and match fitness concerns), Kalidou Koulibaly struggling a bit of late with knee issues, Thiago Silva’s age, Cesar Azpilicueta suffering with injuries and overloads, as well as Trevoh Chalobah having to play every single minute and further overload concerns for him, they feel there is a need to add another defender as soon as possible.
