Chelsea still locked in talks over deal for wasted creative midfielder

AC Milan and Chelsea have been in contact a lot in recent transfer windows, and have built up a strong working relationship.

The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella report that Chelsea are looking to loan Hakim Ziyech out to the Italian club in January. A summer move was on the cards, but nothing was sorted out in the end, meaning that Ziyech has been forced to spend another 6 months rotting on our bench.

But the equation has changed slightly after Milan lost playmaker Alexis Saelemaekers to an injury, leaving a creative gap in the side.

Hopefully the reigning Serie A champions’ new need for some attacking impetus for the second half of the season will make them more willing to do a winter deal. It suits Ziyech, Chelsea and Milan to get him across there, either on loan or permanently.

Let’s hope he has a good World Cup and everyone gets the January move they want.
