Chelsea risk dark winter unless they can secure big Newcastle result

Defeat for Chelsea tonight puts them in a difficult position.

They now play Newcastle, one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League, at the weekend, then head off for a long World Cup break. If we lose that game – and given our record, it looks likely – we will be sitting on 4 defeats in 5 games, and that means intense pressure on the squad and on the manager.

Graham Potter will be desperate for that chance to work with some of his squad and to continue settling in at his new club, but he will be dreading it on the back of such bad results.

He needs buy-in from his squad, and the only way to get that is good results. Such a long period without a game will just mean a hanging malaise in the air as he tries to work things out.

This Newcastle game is increasingly vital for the whole season.

  1. Hopefully another 3points for Newcastle.
Sorry Chelsea or should I say it’s about time the so called big six are going to have there feathers ruffled by the Toon this season.
We are on fire and at home again, it’s going to be electric for our last game prior to the world cup.
Some great pubs in Newcastle all welcome.
Personally I think Graham Potter is to nice of a guy to handle Chelsea and that is no disrespect to him.
