Chelsea need to make early decision on winger – and right now there’s only one answer

We always said this was going to be a funny January transfer window because of the World Cup, and we’re seeing the evidence of that already.

This interesting piece by SportWitness translated quotes from Germany that claim that Chelsea have a recall clause in Callum Hudson-Odoi’s loan deal to Bayer Leverkusen.

The Blues can get him back in January, but the deadline to trigger that clause at Christmas. That means the Blues will have to decide what they’re doing before they play another game. It all seems a little early, given it’s not clear what their options for signing players will be in January.

Hudson-Odoi is doing well out there, but equally Chelsea are desperately in need of attacking options themselves.

It also depends on what Graham Potter wants, and what he makes of the winger. His move away was sanctioned under Thomas Tuchel, but Potter may fancy his chances getting the most out of CHO.
