‘Chelsea have spoken to the reps’ of exciting World Cup talent

Chelsea have reportedly got in touch with the agent of an exciting player currently playing in the World Cup.

This competition has provided an ideal situation for clubs to scout players in the biggest stage in the world, and Chelsea are doing very much that.

Sources: Chelsea back in for Inter Milan defender!

The Blues have spoken to the agent of Mexico winger Alexis Vega, according to Si & Dan Talk Chelsea today. Wolves are also an interested club.

Vega plays as a winger for Liga MX club Guadalajara and the Mexico national team. He’s been capped 24 times for Mexico and plays mainly as a left winger but can also play centrally and out on the right.

The 25-year-old is currently at the World Cup and he will be in action tonight if you want to watch him play. He started their last two matches.

Vega is awaiting his big move and is keen on playing in England in the Premier League.

  1. So, this guy had a better WC than current wingers like Pulisic and Ziyech? Hmmmm…seems like classic “grass is greener” thinking.

Much like the names of goalkeepers we’re apparently scouting, I’m completely underwhelmed by the ambition reflected if this reporting is to be believed. Is he really world class? I didn’t see every touch he made for Mexico, but what I did see was by no means head and shoulders above what we’ve got. If changes are to be made I can understand the excitement over a talent like Leao—his “ceiling” appears virtually limitless—but I’m not at all convinced by Vega and can’t understand why we wouldn’t set our sights higher (unless a perennial 3rd-4th place league finish is good enough).
