Chelsea at a “crossroads” ahead of Sunday clash with Arsenal according to former player

Joe Cole was a good player, and now he’s a good pundit too.

His connection with Chelsea means he’s always particularly on the ball when it comes to the Blues. His take on Sunday’s game against Arsenal is really interesting, and mirrors the way that most Blues fans feel. It also builds the anticipation in a rather exciting way.

“We’re at a crossroads now. Where are we now? That’s why this game I think is poised,” Cole said in his interview with Football.London.

“Arsenal have re-emerged as contenders. There’s been a changing of the guard at Chelsea, I think this game on the weekend is really, really interesting. But underlying all of that stuff, it’s a London derby, and the fans, and I used to love these games. You can’t be a football lover, and a lad from London and not love these games, they’re brilliant.”

Losing to Arsenal is painful regardless, but losing to Arsenal in a game which will really signal their rise above us in the pecking order will be difficult to swallow.

We still have faith that Graham Potter and his players can get the job done, but it’s been a long time since we were this lacking in confidence going into a game against our London rivals.

Chelsea are the favourites with the bookies – but only by a sliver. Consider it’s at Stamford Bridge, that’s a bad sign, and we will have to step up a level from the way we’ve been playing in recent weeks if we want to take on this scary Arsenal side.
