Callum Hudson-Odoi a key part of new Leverkusen coach’s plans

It can be a blessing or a curse when a loan player’s manager is sacked.

If they’re out of the picture it can mean a fresh start – but it can work the other way too, and it’s never a sign that the team is working well as a whole.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of Chelsea’s most interesting loans this season as he’s been an established first team player, and his move to Bayer Leverkusen has been good so far.

They removed their coach and appointed Xabi Alonso, which was a hairy moment, but so far it seems to have worked well.

The Sun has quotes from the former Liverpool player where he points out “we want to keep him.”

“I am sure that he will stay until the end of the season.

“He is an important player for us.”

Leverkusen have won three league games in a row under Alonso now and he looks to have turned things around at the sleeping giant.

This next month provides a great time period for him to get his coaching in place, and we are excited to see what CHO can learn from the much decorated player.
