Chelsea have been linked with a bids for some time for Inter Milan right back Denzel Dumfries.
He was a breakout star of the Euros in summer 2021, but hasn’t been able to carry that form into Serie A on a regular basis.
We only need a reserve for Reece James, but as we’ve seen over the last couple of years, James’ backup can still get plenty of appearances, and we certainly want a decent player.
The bad news is that Football.London report that Arsenal are now in the chase. The Gunners have built a balanced squad, but just like us they’re looking for a backup right back to strengthen their squad in the second half of the season.
We’re not sure whether we take this new report too seriously. There are clearly just not many players being touted around Europe at the moment, and Dumfries is one of them. Inter are still looking to raise cash by selling off assets that get them good money, and the Dutchman looks like one of them.
If we really want him, we’re sure we can get him, regardless of rival interest from Arsenal.
If we do not make top 4, it would be next to immposible to get top class players.
