Armando Broja was the player chosen for today’s Champions League press conference, giving the strong impression he will start tomorrow.
There were questions to him about how he was adjusting to life as a sub and a rotation option, but the Albania international insisted it was all part of the process of developing. It’s still early days, but it sounded like he meant it.
He called this season a “stepping stone,” and pointed out that his aim is to get better – and there aren’t many better places to do that than at his boyhood club.
Armando Broja on his new Chelsea deal: "I see it as a massive opportunity for me and my family. This is my boyhood club. I love to play for Chelsea… it's a big-stepping stone from where I was last season to where I am now."

If he can maintain that patience and keep improving, there’s no reason he can’t be our starter in year’s time. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not doing enough Broja out of the team at the moment, and a good showing from the academy product tomorrow could really put the pressure on the Gabon striker for his place in the short term, let alone next season.
