Police investigate agent’s threatening email to Marina Granovskaia

The Times has a scary exclusive tonight, as they report on a threatening email sent to Marina Granovskaia during her time as a Chelsea director.

The Russian, who has left since the Clearlake Capital takeover, was apparently threatened by a British agent in an email.

Sources said that the email – which was sent during the takeover process earlier this year – blamed Granovskaia for a payment which didn’t go through, and allegedly wrote that he will “make [her] pay”.

It’s all related to a £300,000 payment which Chelsea apparently owed to the agent’s group.

He insisted that “this is not a threat” – although it certainly sounded like one.

The evidence sounds pretty comprehensive and pretty conclusive, although it remains to be seen what level of crime the police interpret the messages as.

Granovskaia apparently refused to comment, as did Chelsea.

We may not hear much more about this until the police investigation is over.
