Leeds manager “not surprised” about Chelsea links to sporting director

Victor Orta is a name that has risen to the top of European football in recent years thanks to his great work with Leeds United.

Helping Marcelo Bielsa get the players he wants isn’t easy, especially on a Championship budget, but Orta managed it. He’s since been able to spend more, and most of his buys have turned into hits. The sale of Raphinha to Barcelona this summer raised a lot of money, which the club have been able to spend on players for new coach Jesse Marsch.

The rumour of a Chelsea move for Orta as their new sporting director were put to Marsch today, and he said he “wasn’t surprised” by the links.

“I can unequivocally say that he’s very happy here and we have an incredible relationship. I hope he stays,” the American added He’s only on Chelsea’s shortlist, alongside a few other big names, but there’s no doubt there’s a chance he comes to Stamford Bridge.
