BREAKING: N’Golo Kante out for four months after hamstring surgery

N’Golo Kante has had surgery on the hamstring injury which has kept him out since August.

There had been various whispers about a setback, but nobody had suspected it would be this bad.

An announcement on the club website says that he has now had surgery, and will miss four months. That’s a bitter blow to our chances this season.

Rumours emerged in France last week were that he would be out for the World Cup, but we didn’t realise that it would need surgery, and that it would all be this severe.

Reece James has avoided surgery – for now – but he will be out for a matter of months too. They – along with Wesley Fofana – represent a really damaging loss to Graham Potter’s squad.

The coach now has to manage to the World Cup and beyond with a depleted midfield and no true right wing back in the squad.
