Armando Broja reveals what Potter told him he needs to do to get more chances

Armando Broja has a really nice interview on the Chelsea official website today where he talks about his season so far and the impact of Graham Potter’s arrival.

Broja has had some chances off the bench under the new man – and scored his first Chelsea goal not long ago.

According to the Albania international, it’s all about working hard in training and showing his coach that he’s ready for future chances.

“[Potter] said to me the more I could keep working hard in training, learning from the other players, the more opportunities I would get. He tries to keep you ambitious and hungry,” Broja explained.

“He’s spoken to all the players individually and got to know us, seen how we think about things and seen how the person is, their background.

“Any time you need help he’s there to help you, or his coaching staff are there to help you. He wants to develop all the players and help out everyone.

“It’s been really good to have him here, to talk to him. It’s been a really good vibe and we’re doing really well at the moment so we just want to keep that going.”

This is all good stuff anyway – and not far from what we would expect – but it’s particularly satisfying as it comes on the heels of whispers from Italy that Broja is unhappy with his game time and would be pushing for a move in January.

That was a silly idea for a number of reasons, but these comments really show why. Potter has made Broja’s pathway to first team action clear, and while he will eventually lose patience, right now he seems more motivated than frustrated.
