Usually international breaks are a chore, with players missing training, tiring themselves out and potentially getting injured.
But they can serve a good purpose too. They can get a player who has been struggling back into form.
Let’s hope that’s the case with Mason Mount now. After a difficult start to the season with Chelsea he came on as a sub for England and wrapped his foot round a pass first time to equalise as the Three Lions roared back from 2 goals down.
