Thiago Silva vows to play until he is 40 years old

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva turns 38 years old today, but when you watch him play you would not say that he is a day over 28.

He plays the game with ease and looks so comfortable and fit when he is out there playing. Of course, he is a world class player with heaps of experience, and he can probably play the game in his sleep.

Sources: Chelsea start scouting in USA and have an interest in Leeds United player.

He is a firm Chelsea fan favourite and many of us already consider him to be a club legend, it is just such a shame we did not land him at the club earlier.

On his birthday today he has been speaking about his future on the Chelsea website, and it will be music to the ears of the majority of Blues fans to hear that he aims to play until he is 40 years old. Two more years of Thiago Silva anyone? It might not be at Chelsea, but I’m in all the same!

“I talk often with Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] and recently more often because Chelsea will play against AC Milan in the Champions league,” Silva said. “My aim is to play until I’m 40 years old but I don’t know if it will be this level or this competition.

“It depends on this season and we’ll see what will happen in the World Cup. It also depends on a contract extension but yeah, my aim is to play until I’m 40.”
