The two Chelsea players who look certain to start for England

The Evening Standard had three really good writers pick their England team for the World Cup opener in November, and it was interesting to see which Chelsea players were in and which were out of the equation.

Nizaar Kinsella is their Chelsea correspondent, so he knows more than anyone about the Blues who are in and out of form.

He picked Raheem Sterling and Reece James as his two starters from Graham Potter’s team. In fact, it was the same pair for all 3 writers.

What that tells you is that the pair are dead certs to be in that first team to play Iran in that first game.

There’s still hope for Ben Chilwell however. Two of the writers went for Luke Shaw, who may not play a huge amount for Manchester United between now and the start of the tournament, and the third went for Bukayo Saka, who would be out of position there.

It Chilwell can start playing regularly for Graham Potter, he’s got a great chance of making himself the third Blue in the mix.
