There are few people who knew Chelsea’s youth setup better than @chelseayouth on Twitter, and it’s to him we go for feedback on the signings which were added to the development squad over the summer.
We all know a bit about Carney Chukwuemeka – he had plenty of Premier League appearances under his belt for Aston Villa already.
But Cesare Casadei is a little more of a mystery, having never played a senior game.
With a few games now played for our teams, Chelsea Youth has started to get a decent impression of him, and his comments on the London is Blue podcast gave the Italian a very flattering comparison.
🗣 @chelseayouth on Cesare Casadei:
“It was really nice to see him bounce back from his red card to score a goal a few days later.
He’s got this Michael Ballack kind of ability where he hits the box at the right time and imposes his aerial presence.”

Casadei scored in Chelsea’s last game, and CY compared him to Michael Ballack for his ability in the air and his timing of runs into the box.
He certainly stands out for his height in midfield. As he’s playing in the youth team you would expect others to catch up, but he’s still going to remain a really dominant aerial presence.
