It looks like Chelsea are planning to get a transfer deal or two sorted before the next window is even close to being open.
Although, it looks like this deal in particular is being sorted out not even for the January transfer window but for next summer.

According to BILD in Germany, as relayed in the article below, Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig is in concrete negotiations with Chelsea and has already completed the cardiological medical check for the move.

As we know, Chelsea have a keen interest in Nkunku and rumours of this have been circulating all summer. He recently signed an extension at Leipzig that involves a release clause that comes in to play next summer. And I guess this is where Chelsea now are thinking they can pounce.
The fact we have already done the medical, according to this report at least, tells you just how serious they are about this deal!
