New Chelsea owners keen to bring former academy player back

Chelsea might have new owners right now, but there are some things that seemingly don’t change at the club.

For this instance, that means a certain club target from before, seemingly might still become a club target now under the new owners.

According to Si & Dan Talk Chelsea today, there are people on the new Chelsea board who really want to bring Declan Rice back to Chelsea.

Of course, the now West Ham midfielder started his career at Chelsea in the academy, but he was rejected by the owners at the time and moved on. This is a decision that they largely ended up regretting.

According to the report, Frank Lampard wanted Rice, so did Thomas Tuchel. It remains to be seen if Chelsea will have the will to stump up the required fee for Rice over the next couple of transfer windows, but it certainly seems like his name is still in conversations at Stamford Bridge.
