Inter would have been “madmen” not to take back Lukaku on their terms

Inter Milan fans are already questioning their club’s plan to get Romelu Lukaku back from Chelsea on loan.

The striker has basically been injured ever since his return, making some question the logic of his return.

But as journalist Fabrizio Biasin pointed out in quotes picked up by SportWitness, they would have been “madmen” not to do the deal.

“You sold him for €100m and took him back for two lira. Only a madman would not have done it.”

He’s right. Chelsea were so desperate to get the Belgian off their books, even if only for a while, that they clearly were ready to offer Inter extremely favourable terms.

Even if he misses half the season injured, it would probably still be decent value for the Italians.

The injuries, if they continue, do create a problem for Chelsea down the line, as it makes it less likely that Inter agree to buy Lukaku permanently from the Blues.

Chelsea could well be stuck with the same dilemma in a year’s time.
