Erling Haaland is Chelsea’s “biggest regret” – but there are alternatives already being watched

Fabrizio Romano’s latest podcast is very focused on Chelsea, and has plenty of insight about transfers we didn’t make, transfers we did make, and transfer we may make in the future.

He points out that Chelsea were keen to sign Erling Haaland this summer, but it simply wasn’t possible due to “timing.”

By that we assume he means because Man City were already in pole position, and the change in Chelsea’s ownership through the spring prevented any possibility of a challenge from our end.

That is apparently one of our “biggest regrets,” as we can well imagine, and means signing a forward is still a priority for us.

Romano says Rafael Leao is a priority target in that position – but everything is dependent on finding a permanent deal with Inter to get Romelu Lukaku off our books.

Next summer might not be as busy as this one, but it could be equally important.
