Christian Pulisic picks up injury on international duty

Christian Pulisic has picked up a knock on international duty with the USA and will miss their game against Japan in Dusseldorf today.

It was announced by the USMNT Twitter account that their star player was out after picking up a knock – although it doesn’t sound like it will be too damaging for Chelsea.

Pulisic will apparently be monitored day by day, with the aim of returning for their game against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

So whatever happens, it sounds like he should be ready for Chelsea’s next game against Crystal Palace, which isn’t until 1st of October.

It’s not great timing for Pulisic, who has been struggling for minutes with the Chelsea team all season, and recently released quotes from his book where he bemoaned Thomas Tuchel’s decision to not play him in the Champions League semi final last year.

This would have been a great chance to prove himself to his new coach, but instead it may be Graham Potter’s first clue that the winger just can’t be relied upon.

  1. “Can’t be relied upon”??? Because he took a knock?

Where do you come up with a conclusion like that, SuperFrank? Players take knocks all the time and have to miss training or a game to avoid sustaining further injury. What about this particular instance should make anyone (except YOU) conclude that he’s any less reliable than anyone else? And besides, we’d be howling if a Chelsea player picked up a knock on international duty but played through it and then was out long-term for his club.

The bias and bile you exhibit toward Pulisic with next to no substantiation is nothing short of breath-taking. It’s a disservice to the player and to all of us who support the club, but, as I’ve said before, it ultimately says more about your failings as a writer and commentator than his as a player.
